Pension Contribution Scheme

The Company’s Defined Contribution pension scheme is the FirstGroup Enhanced Lifetime Savings Plan which is currently provided by Legal & General. The plan allows you to build a pot of money that you can usually access from the age of 55. The size of your pension pot will depend on how much you pay in, how your investments perform and the effect of any charges. Lumo will pay in a minimum of 10% (5% employee contribution and 5% employer contribution) to a maximum total contribution of 20%. (10% Colleague Contribution and 10% Employer Contribution)* Lumo operates an auto enrolment for the pension scheme that can be opted out of following the first deduction.


Annual Leave Entitlement

We offer our Colleagues a generous 33 days holiday within the holiday year. Due to the nature of our business, our operational team members who work on our train services will have up to 25 days of their holiday pre allocated by the business. We do not operate on Christmas day and Boxing day and this will be taken from your holiday allowance. Due to Bank Holidays being normal working days, your remaining six days annual leave can be booked at your discretion.

Life Assurance Cover

Lumo would like to ensure that your loved ones are looked after in the event of you passing while working for the business. With this in mind we have teamed up with The Canada Life Scheme which entitles colleagues to nominate beneficiaries to receive up to four times your annual salary payment, which will be paid to your nominates beneficiary(s) based on your Expression of Wish should you die in service.

Employee Share Plans

Colleagues who have worked with Lumo or FirstGroup for six months or more become eligible to join our employee share plans, look out for your invitation letter from the plan administrators in the post. Save as You Earn – gives you the opportunity to save a regular amount each month for 3 years. At the end of the savings period you can use your savings to buy shares at a discounted price, which is set at the start of the Scheme, or take your savings as cash. Buy as You Earn – allows you to buy shares each month, with 2 free ‘matching’ shares for each 3 shares you buy. You vary the amount you save or stop it at any time. You need to participate in the scheme for at least 3 years to receive the matching shares.
