Network Performance Manager

Position Title:        Network Performance Manager

Reports to:              Head of Networks – UK Bus              

Location:                 UK - Flexible

 Position Summary

The Network Performance Manager will support operating companies in terms of managing service profitability, punctuality and lost miles across the UK

The incumbent will work closely with the UK Bus Head of Networks and Operating companies to ensure that Operating companies utilise the Route profitability data to highlight opportunities to improve performance as well as ensuring the production of the information is robust and accurate

The role will also be key in the roll out of FlowOS Scheduler software across First Bus, with key improvements targeting in improving on time performance, reducing excess dwell time and improving scheduling and real time information accuracy

As a key member of the Networks team, you will also work with colleagues across the Company to develop and share best practice.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Working with Operating companies to ensure route profitability is reliable and where appropriate actions are in place to improve performance
  • Work with Data and Analytics to improve the route performance production process
  • Support the roll out of Flow OS scheduler across First Bus and become a key super user in the software to maximise benefits to the business
  • Supporting the development of network teams across First Bus in regards to FlowOS Scheduler, ensuring they all receive the relevant training and guidance
  • Challenging users to meet KPI's, post implementation of FlowOS Scheduler, specifically reducing dwell time and increasing OTP
  • Communicating key insights and findings to the FlowOS project team and wider business including post implementation reviews
  • Bridging and addressing Op Co problems and adoption of technology solutions
  • Managing and communicating change in requirements as well as any risks or issues to the Flow OS project
  • Support UK Bus Head of Network with pilots of new software including FlowOS Planner

Skills, Experience and Leadership behaviours required

Skills / Experience

  • Highly numerate and strong ability to understand business financial performance
  • Able to identify and evaluate improvement opportunities and deliver within specified timeframes
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including advanced ability with Excel and experience using collaboration tools (Teams, Sharepoint, etc
  • Network planning and scheduling experience within the bus industry (desirable, not essential)
  • High standard of written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to communicate, influence and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience in mentoring and training teams
  • Ability to work effectively using own initiative and prioritise workloads in a pressurised environment to meet deadlines
  • Appreciation and understanding of how efficiency and punctuality affect bus company performance
  • Strong influencing and communication skills and the experience to challenge Senior Management in business-critical decisions when necessary
  • Self-starting and Willing to challenge themselves and play a part in further developing our network capability
