Rail Revenue Data Analyst

We are currently recruiting for a Rail Revenue Data Analyst.

 

The Role

The Rail Division has recently undergone a migration of its revenue data to Snowflake with further commercial data sets to be migrated across, a key part of this role will be to harness the potential that this now offers the Rail Division. It is expected the individual will join the various data sets to provide new commercial insight that can be easily presented to senior decision makers. As a part of the Rail Division Revenue team the role will provide valuable input and assistance on varied revenue and data projects across the Rail Division. With a large Rail Division portfolio support is required to ensure budgeting and reporting is accurately reflected, along with building bespoke demand forecasting models. A crucial role of the team is to develop and model revenue forecast for new business opportunities. This role will develop as more experienced is gained with significant opportunity for professional growth.

 

Main Duties

  • Data analysis:
    • Using Snowflake to develop automated reports
    • Join data sets together to offer new commercial insight
    • Use historic data to inform how passenger demand has behaved
    • Analyse rail industry data to inform future patterns of passenger demand
    • Present findings in a clear and concise way
    • Ensure best practice principles are followed
  • Revenue Modelling:
    • Understand industry principles to modelling rail demand
    • Ability to challenge industry principles with bespoke techniques
    • Produce forecasting models that are tailored to specific purpose
    • Ensure spreadsheet modelling adheres to best practice
    • Provide documented assumptions when compiling models
  • Stakeholder management:
    • Establish relationships with stakeholders across the Rail Division portfolio
    • Work closely with Mistral
  • Economic forecasts:
    • Keep abreast with latest economic factors that may influence future rail demand
  • Keep informed with latest industry practice:
    • Keep abreast of latest data analytic tools
    • Attend industry sessions when required (LENNON upgrade etc.)
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Qualified to degree level – numerate degree desirable
  • Good prioritisation and time-management skills
  • A pro-active, can-do approach to delivering robust information
  • Ability to use programme languages such as Python, R
  • Familiar with rail industry revenue systems: LENNON, MOIRA, PDFH
  • Good business acumen with the ability to work within a complex and multi-disciplined environment
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Good MS office skills
