Senior Payroll Specialist

About the team:
The Payroll team is based in central Bristol. The team is responsible for the production of weekly and four weekly payrolls for GWR, TransPennine Express (TPE), Hull Trains and Heathrow Express. The team process all payroll data and assist with the resolution of payroll related queries from staff and external organisations.
About the job:
This position primarily leads the processing of the TransPennine Express (TPE) and Hull Trains payrolls. This will require processing of high-volume payroll data, managing a small team and leading the relationship with TPE and Hull Trains. The role will also be required to support GWR payroll as needed, and to work on cross entity projects and system implementations.
Your main responsibilities will be:
• Ensure TPE and Hull Train staff are paid accurately and on time.
• Ensuring that all interfaces from internal and external sources are effectively
• Checked and controlled before submission to the payroll system
• Lead and develop the relationship with TPE and Hull Trains key contacts
• Support the GWR payroll teams as required.
• Involvement in projects, such as systems implementations.
• Manage a small team.
• Ensuring GDPR compliance.
• Adhoc duties as and when required.

You'll need to be:
• Experienced in working in a large payroll department and working to tight deadlines.
• Experienced in dealing with multiple terms and conditions.
• Proactive with a positive can-do attitude.
• Able to deliver excellent customer service.
• Professional, confident and act with a high level of integrity at all times.
• CIPP qualification or part qualification would be desirable.

As a minimum, you will need to have:
• Proven knowledge of UK payroll legislation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Excel intermediate level and the ability to analyse data.
• Strong system skills and ideally Cyborg.

About the location: The team are currently based in a modern office space in central Bristol.
Working Pattern:
Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week
Additional Information:
There will be a requirement to work occasional weekends and Bank Holidays to ensure payrolls are delivered on time.
