Driver Instructor

35 hours, £61,800 pa, plus 5% allowance

We are recruiting for a Driver Instructor.

What you will be expected to deliver:

  • Under direction from the Driver Manager, monitor the Competency Management System (CMS) for all Hull Trains' Drivers, ensuring that all scheduled tasks are undertaken within the agreed timescales
  • Carry out assessments.
  • Carry out any required training, supporting the learning and development of trainee and qualified drivers.
  • Provide effective leadership to drivers, working to the highest standards and displaying the Vision, Values and Behaviours.
  • Comply with relevant policies and standards and provide input to the safety policy, standards and strategies.

The knowledge or experience you will need:

  • An understanding of human factors and non-technical skills in relation to how they are relevant in an operational railway environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for the driver role.
  • Train Driver Licence and Complementary Certificate holder.
  • L12 or equivalent instructor qualification (desirable).
  • A1 Assessor or equivalent qualification (desirable).
  • Able to carry out and interpret OTMR Downloads (desirable).
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities; being able to motivate colleagues at all levels in the business.
  • Able to develop and sustain positive relationships at all levels.
  • Act on own initiative and able to take a creative, innovative approach as well as work as part of a team.
