Main Purpose
The Short Notice Planning has a strategic and tactical role for train planning in Control. The team will update and enhance seasonal contingency plans, creating for planned and unplanned events, updating control systems and plans following incident learning reviews, creating on the day contingency plans and making minor alterations to the plan as well as briefing the Control on the timetable.
Principal Accountabilities
- The Short Notice Planning team will be rostered to work shifts in the Control, will also be responsible for:
- STP validation/ responses
- Strategic contingency planning and plans for possession overruns
- STP (Day A for Day C) planning
- Possession overrun plans on the day
- STP weather mitigation plans
- Plan for short notice sickness affecting services e.g. Covid-19 alterations
- VSTP planning process
- Creation of on the day contingency plans for disruption and Supporting the Control Team during times of disruption
Minimum Requirements
- Previous Train Planning experience preferred
- Team Worker with some experience in Train Planning or Control - Training will be provided.
- Accurate worker with great attention to detail.
- Good communication skills at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to interpret and re-write train plans.
- Must be able to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines and switch from strategic planner to tactical work.
- Prepared to work shifts.
Working Pattern
Working an average of 37 hours per week
Shifts pattern - Monday to Friday
0700 – 1430, 0900 - 1630, 1430 – 2200
