Short Term Planning Manager

Main Purpose
Reporting to the Train Planning Manager, you will have three direct reports who manage a team of some 30 people producing all short term changes to the timetable, rolling stock diagrams, and driver and guard diagrams resulting from engineering works, special events and other causes. This role is vital to the delivery and performance of our train service.
Principal Accountabilities
- Manage the production and delivery of revised train timings to Network Rail in accordance with Informed Traveller timescales.
- Manage the production of efficient altered rolling stock workings in respect of all changed train services ensuring that unit mileage is managed.
- Manage the production of efficient altered train crew diagrams for all changes to the train service.
- Meet external organisations in respect of special events that can result in service changes or the running of longer trains.
- Preparation of resource-efficient train service specifications in connection with special events, in liaison with our Commercial department.
- Work closely with internal departments, Network Rail and other train companies in respect of train service issues.
- Ensure that all STP plans are robust from a performance point of view.
Minimum Requirements
- An ability to manage people and processes, identifying and mitigating emerging risks
- An ability to communicate with people throughout the company and externally including with Network Rail.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail.
- An ability to work under pressure to achieve delivery of work within deadlines.
- An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and organised.
- An innovative mind and a high level of flexibility.
- A sound knowledge of train planning processes, IT systems and good management experience are essential for this role.
Working Pattern
working on average 37 hours per week.
Monday - Friday office hours.
