Development & Readiness Project Manager

As Timetable Development and Readiness Business Lead / Project Manager within the service planning and performance  directorate, you will manage the development and delivery of our new timetables, working closely with our  fleet, operations and customer service, project and business assurance teams.  The role will lead timetable readiness, and represent TPE at Industry timetable development and readiness forums and meetings. With the scale of change in our railways, there is more focus timetable readiness that directly impacts upon overall performance and deliverability of timetable, We are investing in our capability and capacity to ensure that we deliver high performing services to meet the needs of our customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to make a real difference.

To do this you will have a good understanding of Timetable and Track Access requirements and processes, along with a knowledge of general railway operations to support the ongoing improvements to the TPE customer offering.

You will be proficient in project management skills, highlighting timeframes and any lead time risks, and with your good communication skills, you will lead our internal and external teams to make sure the correct timetable outputs are coordinated and delivery successfully and on time.

You will also work closely both within the planning and performance team but also with all other Business Directorates to aid the development of future timetable and resource changes, in line with Business Plan commitments and required outputs for our client and stakeholders.

Here's a few things you will be doing:

  • Manage the bi-annual timetable change project to lead to the successful delivery of our customer timetable offering, including all aspects of the associated resource plans (trains, traincrews, etc) and implement processes and reporting systems that ensures this successful delivery on time and within budget, in line with the TPE business plan and contractual requirements.
  • Manage timetable development projects, working with, and coaching, the planning and performance teams in the art of successful project management and to introduce processes, rigour and reporting systems that ensures delivery of timetable projects on time and within budget, in line with the TPE business plan and contractual requirements.
  • Manage projects from origin through to completion, assisting with the necessary formal contract changes, for example, Track Access and Station Access, within the contracts team, in compliance with the required Industry protocols and timeframes.
  • Engage relevant Industry partners, including client and third parties, in aspects of timetable development, delivery and readiness.

You will have experience in the full project life cycle, from initial concepts and through to business cases, planning, reporting, delivery, and benefits reviews. This role will involve working with a wide variety of colleagues, stakeholders, and industry partners so a broad understanding of the railway is essential along with strong and proven communication skills.
