What will you be doing?
An opportunity has arisen in our safety department for a Safety Systems Manager. The key requirement within this demanding role includes an in depth understanding of health and Safety Management Systems (SMS). The SSM is responsible for the content and upkeep of the Safety, Health and Quality manuals and will ensure these documents reflect latest legislative and industry requirements.
The SSM will ensure that TPE Safety Authorisation and Certificate is regularly updated to reflect changes to the organisation, processes or operation and for the preparation and submission of these documents to the Office of Road and Rail when required. The SSM will also be responsible for the completion and submission of the annual ORR report on safety performance.
The SSM will ensure that health and safety reports are produced for the executive team which provide an accurate measure of the performance of the SMS and working with other departments and stakeholders seek opportunities for continual improvement across the SMS. The SSM will work closely with the Head of Safety and Security in producing and delivering safety improvement plans.
The SSM will act as the TPE nominated statutory reporting point for any accidents or incidents that require reporting to the HSE, ORR, RSSB or RAIB.
Liaise closely with the TPE Fleet, Operations Standards and Control functions to ensure those elements of the Safety Management System continue to manage safety effectively.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualified or working towards the completion of the NEBOSH general certificate in occupational safety and health or equivalent.
- A good understanding of the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006
- A good understanding of the Risk Management Maturity Model (RM3) or similar systems which measure and improve system maturity.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills with strong influencing, leadership and time management skills.
