Transpennine Route Upgrade - Key Outputs Manager

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the Major Projects Team as Key Outputs Project Manager for Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU).

The TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a major, multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements which will bring better journeys to passengers travelling across the Pennines between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York. It will deliver transformational change involving a significant number of complex, high value projects delivered by different companies, which come together to deliver benefits for customers in “Key Outputs”. The Key Outputs Project Manager will play a critical role in representing Transpennine Express in defining and scoping the Key Outputs. They will ensure their smooth delivery through successful cross-industry integration. The Key Outputs Project Manager will take a broad overview of Transpennine Express projects and workstreams that deliver or support TRU ensuring Key Output enablers are defined and programme effectively programme managed.

The Key Outputs Project Manager will provide a conduit between TPE and the wider industry, representing TPE at a number of industry forums.  The Key Outputs Project Manager will represent TPE at programme forums, reporting into and out of these forums in accordance with defined governance. They will take responsibility for disseminating actions and ensuring these are completed in a timely manner, supporting with “unblocking” any challenges that prevent this. They will work with project and workstream leads to identify and capture any risks in the delivery of Key Outputs and develop and deliver mitigation plans.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a collaborative, “can-do” nature and be an excellent communicator at all levels, showing diplomacy, tenacity, and an ability to manage upwards to have a positive impact and influence. They will be able to demonstrate a deep and broad knowledge of the discipline of programme/project management navigating complex business change projects, ideally multi-agency. They will be able to show successful experience of enhancing the project management maturity of a large organisation through the application of new processes, systems, team working and training initiatives.
